 Dear Colleagues,

The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting all segments of our life. The impact on transport and mobility has been tremendous regardless of the level of affluence of countries. When restrictions are ended or eased, and activities resume, partially or totally, the transport sector could already look very different.

How is the crisis affecting current and future urban mobility and transport systems, along with urban planning? What are the risks and opportunities? What will be the "old" and "new" problems in the post-pandemic period? How will urban transport and mobility be redesigned and adapted to accommodate and/or manage new trends and emerging needs?

Answering these questions will be at the core of this Seminar organized by the Transport, Health and Environment Pan-European Programme (THE PEP) and will reinforce our understanding of the reality, the challenges and also opportunities for healthier, more equitable, sustainable and resilient transport.

The Seminar will also highlight a new WHO publication on "Supporting healthy urban transport and mobility in the context of COVID-19", available at: https://www.who.int/publications/i/item/9789240012554

This "not-to-be-missed" event will bring together representatives of the academic world, with policy makers in the front line of the response to the challenges posed by COVID-19 to urban transport and mobility.

The Seminar is open to anyone working on transport, health, environment and urban planning issues in national, regional and local governments, as well as to transport operators, researchers, professionals and civil society organizations.

Please include it in your calendars and please do share it with your professional networks.

We look forward to meeting you online soon.

With best wishes,

Nino Sharashidze
